Rituals (an excerpt)

I haven’t been writing a lot of public content lately. Somehow I’ve also been more creative than ever. This is a piece, that fits into the broader spectrum of work that will one day become my book. It’s almost done, but I have a feeling there are a few stories left to be told. Here’s one of them

Rituals

  • dye your hair on the patio with plants. This is so you can remember your potency, your connection to the earth, the wild that has always been a part of you

  • take a bath. Prepare the water with flowers and herbs. Remember your fluidity

  • sip the coffee slow. prepare it, smelling each drop as it percolates, add just enough cream to shift the hue. Use this as a practice in being present

  • sit in the sun. let it bake healing into your bones. let the sunlight kiss your cheeks with freckles and do not turn away

  • lay in the dirt. let her hold you, knowing the earth is the only thing big enough to contain your power, oh mighty mover of mountains

  • gently peel back the skin of a clementine. expose its tender flesh. When you bite it, the juice will dribble down your chin. Throw your head back and laugh for you are alive

  • feel the grumble in your body, the most primal expression of you, as you remember your roar

  • let yourself be witnessed as you feel into what it means to grow and expand and take up space

You are free now. Go.
